Keisha Juanita

Keisha Juanita is an American author and full-time HR professional from Prince George’s County, Maryland. Keisha is passionate about writing. During the decline of the Coronavirus pandemic, she published her first children’s book, Grandma’s Love. She is an active mother to an autistic teenager and an advocate on autism awareness and support services. Keisha’s son has always possessed an intense fascination with letters, numbers, languages, and geography. So, she put her creativity and ingenuity to work and wrote and published a few books that her son could see himself in when he was younger. Keisha received her BA in Communications and MS in Marketing from the University of Maryland.

1. What inspired you to write a children's book?

I had written several stories in a spiral notebook many years ago. I was reading my son a random bedtime story, but suddenly I decided to pull out my spiral notebook and read to him, Where is Number 11? The story was in its beginning stages with my amateur illustrations, but he was enthused by it all! After that evening, I pursued publishing my stories in books.

2. If you could tell yourself one affirmation as a kid, what would it be?

I'm the youngest of 4 children and by the time I was 6 years old, my siblings were out of the house. I felt like an only child growing up because there was such a big age gap between me and my siblings, so if I could have told myself one affirmation as a kid, I would have told myself that I'm here for you and you are not alone.

3. What's next for you as an author?

I look forward to doing more book fairs, writing more books, and collaborating with other authors.
